These Lush Woods

Rutland Brook, Brooks Woodland, Petersham, Massachusetts

Bright greens, perfect young leaves mingle in the flourish of woods.
Insects are buzzing around, butterflies, dragonflies, and, yes,
mosquitoes... We've gotten few bites and a feel-better thought comes to mind:
these ladies need our blood to feed their young.

The way of nature, life needs life to live...
      except for plants,
they make food from the Sun and Earth, not a drop of blood spilled...

and, perhaps, this is why I love them so much, they make me forget...

Brooks Woods: ... perfect young leaves...

Brooks Woods: ... awash with raindrops...

Brooks Woods: ... water abounds...

Brooks Woods: ... through overgrown pathways...

Brooks Woods: ... into the woods...

Brooks Woods: ... blanketed in the living tapestry...

Brooks Woods: ... spaciously branching...

Brooks Woods: ... along Swift River...

Brooks Woods: ... flowing with the memories of these crowds...

Brooks Woods: ... this is your world...

Brooks Woods: ... just a glance keeps me watching...

Brooks Woods: ... among leaves...

Brooks Woods: ... where a breath is born...

Brooks Woods: ... butterflies come along...

Brooks Woods: ... mosses color the rocks...

Brooks Woods: ... and the life carries on unabated...
