For the Sun

Nauset Light Beach, Cape Cod, Massachusetts

Today is Winter Solstice, the longest night of the year,
when North Pole reaches its maximum angle away from the Sun.
From this point on, the Sun begins to stretch our days in light.

Humans are absorbed in their humanity,
nature is sound asleep, winter at our doorstep,

  and the Sun reminds...

Nauset Light: ... reminds...

Early Light

Nauset Light Beach, Cape Cod, Massachusetts

When all has been said,
the adventure of the sun is the great natural drama by which we live,
and not to have joy in it and awe of it,
not to share in it,
is to close a dull door on nature's sustaining and poetic spirit.

Haleakala is waking up

Haleakala National Park, Maui

Haleakala. House of the Sun. Hawaiian Legend tells us that chief Maui came Here to force the Sun to slow down and make days longer. If the Legend is true, He succeeded beyond anyone's imagination. The Sun comes early in the day and shoots straight upward, skipping the morning altogether. Stays high up the whole day, until the time to drop down and simply disappear. Perfect Tropics Day.

Return of The Sun

Today is the longest night. Those Nights. Feels Spooky. Even when Stars light the way. Perhaps this is the reason why they miss me. WELCOME BACK !
