Snowdrops

Fells Reservation, Massachusetts

Snowdrops come from deciduous forests of Europe. There, they learned the advantage of early bloom...
... and early bloom makes them human's darlings.

Why do we love them so much?
Poking out of melting snow, they give us first notice of coming spring...
... in their subtle voice... the winter is over...

Fells: ... first days of spring...

Fells: ... flowering...

Fells: ... why do we love them so much?..

Fells: ... in their subtle voice... the winter is over...

The Point

Sachuest Point National Wildlife Refuge, Rhode Island

Sachuest Point... The place for birds.
A small piece of prickly thicket rushing towards the ocean...
...where land birds find peace and water birds find waves.
I am circling the only human pathway... edging the land and the ocean... and watching...
   ... binoculars bring me closer...

Sachuest Point: ... on the land...

Sachuest Point: ... on the ocean...

Sachuest Point: ... and in the air...

Sachuest Point: ... imprinted...

Sachuest Point: ... motions...

Sachuest Point: ...

Sachuest Point: ... edging the land and the ocean...

Sachuest Point: ... feels at home...

Sachuest Point: ... taking a break closer to the shore...

Sachuest Point: ... surrounded by harlequins...

Sachuest Point: ... on the other side...

Sachuest Point: ... prickly thicket...

Sachuest Point: ... don't even think about passing through...

Sachuest Point: ... they just fly over...

Sachuest Point: ... enjoying familiar grounds...

Sachuest Point: ... only for land birds...

Sachuest Point: ... and the waves continue to delight...

Sachuest Point: ... familiar moments...

Late Snow

Fells Reservation, Massachusetts

... glittering surfaces... and footsteps... I hear gurgling streams and birds' chirps... spring is coming...

Fells: ... surfacing...

Fells: ... amidst glitter...

Fells: ... Pjer is in front...

Fells: ... sharing the path with a deer...

Fells: ... waving...

Fells: ... sparkling formations... slowly melting away...

The Mountain

South Ridge, Cadillac Mountain, Acadia National Park

At 466 meters (1530 feet), she is the highest point along the North Atlantic coast. And the first to see a sunrise in the United States from autumn through spring. Millions of years of turbulent history makes her who she is today. A family of granite boulders, subalpine people... and clouds...
... winds shape her defiant character...
... and we take-in her eternal energy...

Cadillac Mountain: ... ascending...

Cadillac Mountain: ... in continual upkeep...

Cadillac Mountain: ... far away ocean... distant yet present...

Cadillac Mountain: ... as are the glaciers...

Cadillac Mountain: ... with the views...

Cadillac Mountain: ... the mountain...

Cadillac Mountain: ... the family...

Cadillac Mountain: ... autumn colors...

Cadillac Mountain: ... and clouds...

Cadillac Mountain: ... reaching for the blue...

Cadillac Mountain: ...

Cadillac Mountain: ... and the reds...

Cadillac Mountain: ...

Cadillac Mountain: ... showing the way...

Cadillac Mountain: ...

Cadillac Mountain: ... embracive bedrock...

Cadillac Mountain: ... and boulders...

Cadillac Mountain: ... through the woods...

Cadillac Mountain: ... the autumn...

Cadillac Mountain: ...

Cadillac Mountain: ... from the chipmunk's perspective...

Cadillac Mountain: ... and mine... when I crouch and look down...

Cadillac Mountain: ... this too is the mountain...
