When They Come

Crane Beach, Ipswich, Massachusetts

With the sound of eternity and the rolling power.
 The acrobatics, the foamy spreads.
   Immersed
into the tumbles, images, trails and the clouds.

The points of infinite, unfolding in front of my eyes...

Crane Beach: ... when they come...

Crane Beach: ... with the sounds of eternity...

Crane Beach: ... in response...

Crane Beach: ... of the rolling power...

Crane Beach: ... just watch...

Crane Beach: ... and follow...

Crane Beach: ... the acrobatics...

Crane Beach: ... the foamy spreads...

Crane Beach: ... closing in on...

Crane Beach: ... you too...

Crane Beach: ... immersed...

Crane Beach: ... into the tumbles...

Crane Beach: ... images...

Crane Beach: ... trails...

Crane Beach: ... and the clouds...

Crane Beach: ... the points of infinite...

Crane Beach: ... unfolding...

Crane Beach: ... in front of my eyes...

Sounds

Crane Beach, Massachusetts

No wind today...

High tide is on its way down, deep breaths of the Ocean are about the only sound I can hear.
And even now, in this quietness,
there are voices of perpetual motion, the eternal comings and goings,
imbuing the familiar with the touches of untold...

Crane Beach: ... and even now, in this quietness...

Crane Beach: ... there are voices of perpetual motion...

Crane Beach: ... imbuing the familiar with the touches of untold...

It is All About Waves

Nauset Light Beach, Cape Cod, Massachusetts

Somewhere in ocean, perhaps a thousand miles and more from this beach,
the pulse beat of earth liberates a vibration, an ocean wave...

Once created, the wave...begins its journey through the sea...

It approaches the continent...courses ashore, breaks, dissolves, is gone.
The innermost waters it last inhabited
flow back in marbly foam to become a body to another beat...

So it goes night and day,
and will go till the secret heart of earth strikes out its last slow beat,
and the last wave dissolves upon the last forsaken shore...

HENRY BESTON, The Outermost House

Nauset Beach: ... approaching the continent...

Nauset Beach: ... with the fury gulls seem to enjoy...

Nauset Beach: ... and the uproar...

Nauset Beach: ... of flying sparkles...

Nauset Beach: ... hitting the earth...

Nauset Beach: ... in explosive thunder...

Roaring Nor'easter

Cape Ann, Massachusetts

... waves in my eyes, the roaring sounds,
and a nebulous feeling of being in touch with the Planet...

Cape Ann: ... hilly ocean...

Cape Ann: ... roaring...

Cape Ann: ... in strength...

Cape Ann: ... breaching the barriers...

Cape Ann: ... rolling...

Cape Ann: ... into the mist...

Cape Ann: ... of windy rhythms...

Cape Ann: ... and foamy whiteness...

After the Storm

Parker River National Wildlife Refuge, Plum Island, Massachusetts

Arriving on the Island right after the last night's storm... clouds and sounds are still here...
I hear the roaring ocean and feel the tremors in my throat...
... surging, crashing, spuming, with the resonance of imperial authority... in silence...

Plum Island: ... after the storm...

Plum Island: ... clouds and sounds are still here...

Plum Island: ... roaring ocean...

Plum Island: ... crashing...

Plum Island: ... spuming...

Plum Island: ... with the resonance of imperial authority...

Plum Island: ... diffusing...

Plum Island: ... in silence...

Together

Sachuest Point National Wildlife Refuge, Rhode Island

I love ducks... I love waves... and Sachuest brings them together...
... crushing ocean and these teeny-tinies... in total control...

Sachuest Point: ... I love ducks... and waves...

Sachuest Point: ... together...

Sachuest Point: ... sliding...

Sachuest Point: ... when such a power rolls in...

Sachuest Point: ... the time to dive...

Sachuest Point: ... through sounds...

Sachuest Point: ... in her eyes...

Sachuest Point: ... hidden from the wind's freeze...

Sachuest Point: ... and with all this cold, looks like summer for them...

Sachuest Point: ... crushing ocean...

Sachuest Point: ... and these teeny-tinies... in total control...
