The Spirit of Water

Walden Pond, Massachusetts

... where fish come to my feet... dancing shadows touch my body... jovial dragonfly lands on my head... and sparkling ripples follow my strokes... encircled... and embraced...

Walden Pond: ... where fish come to my feet...

Walden Pond: ... and browse around...

Walden Pond: ... deeper...

Walden Pond: ... where dancing shadows touch my body...

Walden Pond: ... and she is watching...

Walden Pond: ... where jovial dragonfly...

Walden Pond: ... lands on my head...

Walden Pond: ... and sparkling ripples follow my strokes...

Walden Pond: ... encircled... and embraced...

A Day for Swimming

Mauna Kea Beach, Hawai'i aka Big Island
You swim to experience the water rippling past you, and to enjoy the floating sensation when you lie on your back and look at the blue sky and the birds circling about. Every moment of it you are simply absorbed in this ripply, luminous world, looking at the patterns and the shifting net of sunlight underneath and the sand way down below - that's what swimming is about.
