Summer Crowds

 Fresh Pond, Cambridge, Massachusetts

This place is in the middle of the traffic that goes about and never lets IT be in peace.
Since the pond keeps water that all of us who live here drink,
surrounding patches of woods, meadows, and Black's Nook are kept as strainers.

The pockets of urban sprawl where wildlife comes for a visit from time to time,
and Nature seems to be striving to reassert herself

  in surprisingly unexpected moments...

Fresh Pond: ... passes a glance...

Fresh Pond: ... and continues browsing...

Fresh Pond: ... Black's Nook crowds...

Fresh Pond: ... of Lotus flowers...

Fresh Pond: ... enchanting...

Fresh Pond: ... pose...

Fresh Pond: ... being up there...

Fresh Pond: ... and there...

Fresh Pond: ... amidst spiky thistles...

Fresh Pond: ... with inviting flowers...

Fresh Pond: ... and the flying crowds...

Fresh Pond: ... hey, I like the seeds...

Fresh Pond: ... in surprisingly unexpected moments...

No Space for Ducks

Black's Nook, Fresh Pond, Cambridge, Massachusetts

Lotuses have overgrown the nook... no space for ducks...
   ... I see a frog...

Black's Nook: ... lotuses have overgrown the nook...

Black's Nook: ... no space for ducks...

Black's Nook: ... I see a frog...

Middle of the Summer

Mass Audubon Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary, Massachusetts

Middle of the summer, has not rained much. Water in ponds is so low...
Lilies do not seem to fuss about that,
their leaves and flowers are in motion, covering much of the surfaces...

   ... radiating petals... just perfect...

Ipswich River: ... into the summer...

Ipswich River: ... and she is watching...

Ipswich River: ... eyeing those visitors...

Ipswich River: ... ponds are low... water lilies do not mind...

Ipswich River: ... brimming...

Ipswich River: ... just perfect...

Ipswich River: ... and a passage...

Ipswich River: ... towards the verticals...

Ipswich River: ... Summersweet fragrances...

Ipswich River: ... infusing the pathways...

Ipswich River: ... and the sleepy river...

Ipswich River: ... with the eyes watching...

Ipswich River: ... hidden in the grass...

Ipswich River: ... somewhere in the meadow...

Water as a Pond

Black's Nook, Fresh Pond, Cambridge, Massachusetts

It is summer... and in summer, we humans think about water... water as a pond, a lake... we can plunge into and forget the heat... is THIS nature's call?... is this the time when we become lotuses, turtles, ducks?... when our primeval instincts take the form of a pond, a lake?...

Black's Nook: ... exaltation of the summer...

Black's Nook: ... floating...

Black's Nook: ... reflections...

Black's Nook: ... dreaming...

Black's Nook: ... stillness...

Black's Nook: ... not a tremor...

Fresh Pond: ... water as a pond...

Fresh Pond: ... no trespassing...

Fresh Pond: ... really?...

Mastering Mimicry

Suddenly, little frog jumps out of the way... and stops... exposed yet perfectly hidden...

On a Hot Day

Fells Reservation, Massachusetts

It is Hot today. Close to 35°C (95° F). Tree crowns shadow from the Sun. Leaves fanning the Air around. How noble do I feel in the forest... Recalling my recent Whole Foods exchange with Haiti-born Moise: It is Hot today. He nods. You are well used to it, aren't you? He looks at me: Yes... But in Haiti, you sit under a tree. Here, it is all cement. I smile. How TRUE... Along the Path. Heat dissipates. In the shadows. And swirling breeze.

Fells: Today, the Sky is the Stage

Fells: Through Shadowy Tunnel

Fells: Following the Rocky Uphill

Fells: Into the Sky. Feel the Breeze.

Fells: Nature Assignment?

Fells: Kaleidoscopic Playtime

Fells: Water in Green

Fells: Falling

Fells: Climbing

Fells: On Her Way

Fells: Enveloped in Leaves

Fells: And on the Rocks

Fells: Under Princely Sunshade

Fells: Boston in distance. Moise's words come to mind.
