In Motion

Crane Beach, Massachusetts

Grasses have learned to adopt the wind into their being.
Swaying streaks of shimmer, the sound of waves and

sandpipers... in the rhythm of the ocean...

Crane Beach: ... swaying streaks of shimmer...

Crane Beach: ... the sound of waves...

Crane Beach: ... and sandpipers...

Crane Beach: ... waiting for the high tide...

Crane Beach: ... stepping...

Crane Beach: ... in a hurry...

Crane Beach: ... not so much here...

Crane Beach: ... and how about you ?...

Crane Beach: ... I wish to dazzle...

Crane Beach: ... me too...

They Are Back

Crane Beach, Massachusetts

Windy and cool but it is May when the beach lives as a return point for Sandpipers and Piping Plovers,
coming from afar to their summer homes...
Sandpipers in ensembles, enjoying melodic flights in synchrony with the wind and ocean...
and Piping Plovers in singulars, moving with the purpose...

Crane Beach: ... windy and cool...

Crane Beach: ... but it is May...

Crane Beach: ... a return point for sandpipers...

Crane Beach: ... coming to their summer homes...

Crane Beach: ... rejoicing in melodic flights...

Crane Beach: ... while piping plovers are moving with the purpose...

Crane Beach: ... they are at home...

Crane Beach: ... with the waves...

Crane Beach: ... and flying attempts...

Crane Beach: ... this is how it is done...

Wrack Zone

Crane Beach, Massachusetts

On the verge of the sea... where ebbing tides leave the canvas of streams and sea-plants,
and Piping Plovers time their visits to forage for food...
... this is called a "wrack zone"...
... sounds like a zone where things destroyed are deposited,
and "things destroyed" in human jargon are the things one can simply throw away...

Looking at these sea-plants and those nimble birds,
I am enchanted by the vitality of the whole scenery,
and I simply cannot call this world a "wrack zone"...

Crane Beach: ... on the verge of the sea...

Crane Beach: ... where tides leave the canvas of streams and sea-plants...

Crane Beach: ... and Piping Plovers time their visits...

Crane Beach: ... this is called a wrack zone...

Crane Beach: ... looking at those sea-plants...

Crane Beach: ... washed over...

Crane Beach: ... and nimble Piping Plover...

Crane Beach: ... I cannot call this world a wrack zone...
