So am I

 Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary, Massachusetts

    In this world of water...

Ipswich River: ... in this world of water...

Here Again

Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary, Massachusetts

Early spring...
without young leaves, flowers, and grasses
but with the chirps, actions and flyovers.

  Swallows are already HERE...

Ipswich River: ... early spring chirps...

Ipswich River: ... to meet...

Ipswich River: ... while #58 awaits...

Ipswich River: ... their acrobatic flyovers...

Ipswich River: ... and there is more...

Ipswich River: ... in those looks...

On the Ice

Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary, Massachusetts

The paths and ponds are frozen...
I feel the cold in my fingers, the gloves not doing much...

And in the midst of this biting surge,
    a pair of Mallards,
their bright orange legs infused in warmth...

Ipswich River: ... I feel the cold in my fingers, the gloves not doing much...

Ipswich River: ... stepping...

Ipswich River: ... these bright orange legs...

Ipswich River: ... infused in warmth...

Ipswich River: ... while she takes the last minute swim...

Ipswich River: ... about these gloves, should be thicker...

Birdly Living

Mass Audubon Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary, Massachusetts

First sunny day after the snow storm.
Most of the unworn nature is in white blanket, the temps hover around -8°C.
Harsh times for birds. But they keep spirits. For them, it is a matter of survival...
... their life force passes through my soul, I feel privileged...

Ipswich River: ... harsh times...

Ipswich River: ... but they keep spirits...

Ipswich River: ... with seeds...

Ipswich River: ... and no fear...

Ipswich River: ... what?...

Ipswich River: ... plainly simple...

Ipswich River: ... eyeful...

Ipswich River: ... sooooo Big...

Ipswich River: ... is this crowding?...

Ipswich River: ... hardly...

Ipswich River: ... up the tower...

Ipswich River: ... and she knows...

Ipswich River: ... fine to wait for a moment...

Ipswich River: ... while under the snow...

Middle of the Summer

Mass Audubon Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary, Massachusetts

Middle of the summer, has not rained much. Water in ponds is so low...
Lilies do not seem to fuss about that,
their leaves and flowers are in motion, covering much of the surfaces...

   ... radiating petals... just perfect...

Ipswich River: ... into the summer...

Ipswich River: ... and she is watching...

Ipswich River: ... eyeing those visitors...

Ipswich River: ... ponds are low... water lilies do not mind...

Ipswich River: ... brimming...

Ipswich River: ... just perfect...

Ipswich River: ... and a passage...

Ipswich River: ... towards the verticals...

Ipswich River: ... Summersweet fragrances...

Ipswich River: ... infusing the pathways...

Ipswich River: ... and the sleepy river...

Ipswich River: ... with the eyes watching...

Ipswich River: ... hidden in the grass...

Ipswich River: ... somewhere in the meadow...

Why don't you ask her?

Mass Audubon Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary, Massachusetts

Meadows are glowing... flowery whorls and spikes in pinkish, mixing with greens...
... and a butterfly... I know these orange, pearl-bound wings... Monarch, our first of the season...

Was she born on this meadow?
Or is this a final stop on her way to Oyamel forests in Central Mexico?...

Ipswich River: ... flowery spikes mixing with green... and a butterfly...

Ipswich River: ... these orange, pearl-bound wings...

Ipswich River: ... Monarch...

Ipswich River: ... was she born here?...

Ipswich River: ... or is this a final stop on her way to Oyamel forests?...

Ipswich River: ... why don't you ask her?...

Joyous Faith in Living

Mass Audubon Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary, Massachusetts
Of all the birds, Stalking Wolf respected the chickadee the most, even more than the hawk or the owl... We learned to be patient observers like the owl. We learned cleverness from the crow, and courage from the jay... But above all of them ranked the chickadee because of his indomitable spirit.

The exuberance of the chickadee made him our idol...

A chickadee doesn't look like a good bet for survival; you could close your hand with one in the palm almost without hurting him. There are better fliers; swallows have more grace and all the soaring birds are more spectacular. But nobody flies with more reckless abandon than the chickadee, and nobody flies with more delight.

The chickadee lives by joyous faith in living...

The TRACKER (as told by Tom Brown, Jr. to William Jon Watkins)

Ipswich River: ... back again...

Ipswich River: ... with the seed...

Ipswich River: ... indomitable...
