Buzzing

Danehy Park, Cambridge, Massachusetts

Just a pass along the grove of Sumac makes me stop
to look at the bees buzzing around clusters of yellow flowers...
they do no seem to note or care...

Pollen baskets on their legs feel heavy, but not to them.
   The cargo is deftly packed,
grains of pollen mixed with nectar hold well
and this extra weight does not hinder their flight.

More or less the same as my backpack...

Danehy Park: ... along the grove of Sumac...

Danehy Park: ... makes me stop...

Danehy Park: ... to look at the bees...

Danehy Park: ... buzzing around yellow clusters...

Danehy Park: ... pollen baskets on their legs feel heavy...

Danehy Park: ... they do not seem to note or care...

Danehy Park: ... simply flowers...

Danehy Park: ... the cargo is deftly packed...

Danehy Park: ... she knows I am here...

Crane Beach, Crane Estate, Massachusetts

Terns are here...
The place they know well... where they were born
      and come back each spring,
find their mates, build nests and raise their young...

A life story written on the beach...

Crane Beach: ... Terns are here...

Crane Beach: ... the place they know well...

Crane Beach: ... this is what i call joy...

Crane Beach: ... sharing sparkles...

Crane Beach: ... and the take off...

Crane Beach: ... up...

Crane Beach: ... in the blue...

Rock Stars of Sand Dunes

Castle Neck, Crane Estate, Massachusetts

 Hudsonia is in bloom.
Yellow clusters of flowers are bringing meadowy feelings to the dunes....

A pioneer in the shifting world of sand and wind,
knows how to play this game...
And when those who do not know them think they are on the brink of death,

she throws all the shine to the fore, as if saying
Hey we are here to stay...

Castle Neck: ... Hudsonia is in bloom...

Castle Neck: ... yellow clusters...

Castle Neck: ... bringing meadowy feelings...

Castle Neck: ... a pioneer...

Castle Neck: ... in the trying world...

Castle Neck: ... knows how to play this game...

Castle Neck: ... while some watch...

Castle Neck: ... digging herself from the sand...

Castle Neck: ... throws all the shine to the fore...

Castle Neck: ... as if saying we are here to stay...

These Lush Woods

Rutland Brook, Brooks Woodland, Petersham, Massachusetts

Bright greens, perfect young leaves mingle in the flourish of woods.
Insects are buzzing around, butterflies, dragonflies, and, yes,
mosquitoes... We've gotten few bites and a feel-better thought comes to mind:
these ladies need our blood to feed their young.

The way of nature, life needs life to live...
      except for plants,
they make food from the Sun and Earth, not a drop of blood spilled...

and, perhaps, this is why I love them so much, they make me forget...

Brooks Woods: ... perfect young leaves...

Brooks Woods: ... awash with raindrops...

Brooks Woods: ... water abounds...

Brooks Woods: ... through overgrown pathways...

Brooks Woods: ... into the woods...

Brooks Woods: ... blanketed in the living tapestry...

Brooks Woods: ... spaciously branching...

Brooks Woods: ... along Swift River...

Brooks Woods: ... flowing with the memories of these crowds...

Brooks Woods: ... this is your world...

Brooks Woods: ... just a glance keeps me watching...

Brooks Woods: ... among leaves...

Brooks Woods: ... where a breath is born...

Brooks Woods: ... butterflies come along...

Brooks Woods: ... mosses color the rocks...

Brooks Woods: ... and the life carries on unabated...
