Summer Home

Parker River National Wildlife Refuge, Plum Island, Massachusetts

Parker River skies are swarmed with clouds of Swallows...
   ... come here each summer,
build their nests in sand dunes, and chase insects around the ponds and grasses...

Every particle vibrates with their joyful energy... what a delight to watch...

Parker River: ... scarcely noticed in grasses...

Parker River: ... but not up there...

Parker River: ... flying with sunrays...

Parker River: ... and clouds...

Parker River: ... waving...

Parker River: ... and descending...

Parker River: ... to take a rest...

Meet the Clouds

Mass Audubon Wachusett Meadow Wildlife Sanctuary, Massachusetts

A place of meadows, forest strolls, beaver ponds...
... and a hill where you can meet the clouds... if lucky...

Brown Hill: ... sneaking through to the summit...
Brown Hill: ... and the sky opens up...

Brown Hill: ... up, up...

Brown Hill: ... the exhibit only nature can bring forth...

Brown Hill: ... for the moments...

Brown Hill: ... and to eternity...

Brown Hill: ... back down...

Brown Hill: ... into the humble bonds of the forest...

Middle of the Summer

Mass Audubon Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary, Massachusetts

Middle of the summer, has not rained much. Water in ponds is so low...
Lilies do not seem to fuss about that,
their leaves and flowers are in motion, covering much of the surfaces...

   ... radiating petals... just perfect...

Ipswich River: ... into the summer...

Ipswich River: ... and she is watching...

Ipswich River: ... eyeing those visitors...

Ipswich River: ... ponds are low... water lilies do not mind...

Ipswich River: ... brimming...

Ipswich River: ... just perfect...

Ipswich River: ... and a passage...

Ipswich River: ... towards the verticals...

Ipswich River: ... Summersweet fragrances...

Ipswich River: ... infusing the pathways...

Ipswich River: ... and the sleepy river...

Ipswich River: ... with the eyes watching...

Ipswich River: ... hidden in the grass...

Ipswich River: ... somewhere in the meadow...

Why don't you ask her?

Mass Audubon Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary, Massachusetts

Meadows are glowing... flowery whorls and spikes in pinkish, mixing with greens...
... and a butterfly... I know these orange, pearl-bound wings... Monarch, our first of the season...

Was she born on this meadow?
Or is this a final stop on her way to Oyamel forests in Central Mexico?...

Ipswich River: ... flowery spikes mixing with green... and a butterfly...

Ipswich River: ... these orange, pearl-bound wings...

Ipswich River: ... Monarch...

Ipswich River: ... was she born here?...

Ipswich River: ... or is this a final stop on her way to Oyamel forests?...
