Basics

Ravenswood Park, Gloucester, Massachusetts

High-up in the crowns.
Looks like a perfect place to take a lunch.

It is all about food, so they say. But, is it ?
  Perhaps, at the moment.

   Where is my scone ?

Borderland

Borderland State Park, Sharon, Massachusetts

Lots of water...

Walking along Leach Pond, Cedars !!!
I love these trees and don't see them often.
So, why are they here ?

Digging into the past, I find the answer.

Poquanticut Cedar Swamp, which is now underneath Leach Pond, was the large White Cedar Swamp.

In the 1820s,
after the Poquanticut Cedar Swamp was clear-cut of all its trees,
General Sheperd Leach mined the swamp for bog iron ore.
After the bog iron was removed,
a natural earthen berm on the south side of the swamp was raised
to make a pond
to provide water for mills in Furnace Village...

AHA !!!!

The nature has adapted and White Cedars paid the price...

Borderland: ... looks like their home...

Borderland: ... where woods come...

Borderland: ... close to the water...

Borderland: ... and the paths are shared with the roots...

Borderland: ... of Poquanticut Cedar Swamp callings...

Borderland: ... through colonial farming reminders...

Borderland: ... in freshly grasses...

Borderland: ... with Titmouses...

Borderland: ... of early spring...

Borderland: ... where, after all these years...

Borderland: ... the nature has accepted human industry to her advantage...

Borderland: ... and the oldest dwellers...

Borderland: ... show the ways...

Borderland: ... how many hats have you seen thus far ?...

Borderland: ... passing by...

Borderland: ... stepping in...

Borderland: ... stop...

Borderland: ... and walk around...

Borderland: ... how many moments last forever ?...

Borderland: ... by the bench...

Birdly Living

Mass Audubon Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary, Massachusetts

First sunny day after the snow storm.
Most of the unworn nature is in white blanket, the temps hover around -8°C.
Harsh times for birds. But they keep spirits. For them, it is a matter of survival...
... their life force passes through my soul, I feel privileged...

Ipswich River: ... harsh times...

Ipswich River: ... but they keep spirits...

Ipswich River: ... with seeds...

Ipswich River: ... and no fear...

Ipswich River: ... what?...

Ipswich River: ... plainly simple...

Ipswich River: ... eyeful...

Ipswich River: ... sooooo Big...

Ipswich River: ... is this crowding?...

Ipswich River: ... hardly...

Ipswich River: ... up the tower...

Ipswich River: ... and she knows...

Ipswich River: ... fine to wait for a moment...

Ipswich River: ... while under the snow...
