Lily Pond

Echo Pond, Rocky Woods, Medfield, Massachusetts

The pond is in bloom.
One of those shallow waters that attract water lilies... close to the soil, close to the sun...
Circling over the surface... and all those roseate petals make me stay still...

I take a step... a frog hops into the water...

Echo Pond: ... the pond is in bloom...

Echo Pond: ... one of those that attract water lilies...

Echo Pond: ... circling over the surface...

Echo Pond: ... and stay still...

Echo Pond: ... while the eyes move...

Echo Pond: ... from flower to flower...

Echo Pond: ... and stay still...

Echo Pond: ... on this pond...

All This Rain

Great Brook Farm State Park, Massachusetts

Lots of rain lately... bright greens all over the woods.
Countless mushrooms in different shapes and colors. The flowers of the masters of mycelium networks
by which trees connect and form the living organism we name FOREST.
       The signatures of well being...

... and it is good to know that all is well here...

Brooks Farm: ... lots of rain lately...

Brooks Farm: ... mushrooms...

Brooks Farm: ... all over the floor...

Brooks Farm: ... and there...

Brooks Farm: ... flowers of the fungal underworld...

Brooks Farm: ... sprinkle...

Brooks Farm: ... close to trees...

Brooks Farm: ... a touch of bliss...

Brooks Farm: ... amidst the fallen...

Brooks Farm: ... here...

Brooks Farm: ... and there...

Brooks Farm: ... all is well...

On a Hot Day

Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary, Cape Cod, Massachusetts

... fairly toasty today...

We thought being close to the ocean brings a respite, but no, not this time...
not a bird in sandy pools of low tide... only Fiddlers,
small crabs that sense our steps as a danger and quickly retire into their holes as we approach...

and the woods... embracing every breath of breeze in sways, twists, and whirls...

I hear birds chirping in the crowns...

Wellfleet Bay: ... water lilies in silence...

Wellfleet Bay: ... and the woods... embracing every breath of breeze...

Wellfleet Bay: ... I hear birds in the crowns...

Wellfleet Bay: ... with leaves... so airy...

Wellfleet Bay: ... fairly toasty today... Opuntias do not mind...

Wellfleet Bay: ... neither pioneer Junipers...

Wellfleet Bay: ... not a bird in sight... just a blue thin line of the ocean...

Wellfleet Bay: ... on the other side...

Wellfleet Bay: ... where grasses meet trees...

Wellfleet Bay: ... and the path goes along...

Wellfleet Bay: ... edging the Fresh Brook Bay...

Wellfleet Bay: ... under the shade of Pitch Pines...

Wellfleet Bay: ... and into the world of green...

Wellfleet Bay: ... ending with this epilogue... raises smiles...

Two Weeks Later

Mass Audubon Wachusett Meadow Wildlife Sanctuary, Massachusetts

On our last visit to the milkweed meadows we missed Monarchs...
Where are they? Already gone? Or not yet arrived?

This is the time when they stop here,
leave their eggs on milkweed leaves and pass away without notice,
while in 30 days their young grow-up and resume the last part of their grandiose journey up-north...

Coming back in two weeks and... HERE YOU ARE!!! infusing the space with orange flutter...

    Welcome back !!!

Wachusett Meadow: ... this is the time...

Wachusett Meadow: ... with milkweeds flowering...

Wachusett Meadow: ... in the lush green...

Wachusett Meadow: ... when Monarchs look for milkweed leaves...

Wachusett Meadow: ... and infuse the space with orange flutter...

Wachusett Meadow: ... welcome back !!!...
