Leafing

Fells Reservation, Massachusetts

Leafing... essential moment in the life of trees...
Trees prepare for IT in late autumn. They develop and protect leaf nuclei against harsh winter, knowing that the time to be born is going to arrive...
... I often wonder how do they know WHEN is that time ?..

Today, millions of baby leaves are changing the forest before my eyes... with the ones who say GO !...

Fells: ... leafing...

Fells: ... essential moment in the life of trees...

Fells: ... and the forest...

Fells: ... leaves are ready...

Fells: ... the time to be born...

Fells: ...

Fells: ... millions...

Fells: ... how do they know ?..

Fells: ... changing the forest in front of my eyes...

Awakening

Mount Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge, Massachusetts

The month of April...
... when there is this awareness...
... the awareness that winter is over, but no readiness to fully open-up... not yet...
... while the trees remain cautious, the grounds are already blooming...
... with first bees buzzing around, somewhat reserved...
... and birds being birds... cheerfully spreading the spring's energy throughout...
   I call IT awakening...

Mount Auburn: ... the month of April...

Mount Auburn: ... when there is this awareness...

Mount Auburn: ... the grounds are already blooming...

Mount Auburn: ... and birds...

Mount Auburn: ... being birds...

Mount Auburn: ... opened-up...

Mount Auburn: ... with first bees...

Mount Auburn: ... cheerfully spreading the spring's energy...

Mount Auburn: ... throughout...

Mount Auburn: ... I call it awakening...

More Signs of Spring

Cambridge, Massachusetts

Magnolias are in bloom...
An ancient plant, emerging before bees, about 95 million years ago.
Their flowers, some say, have evolved to attract beetles... and, I say, humans as well...
They cannot be missed on spring days... adorning the streets of Cambridge... for just a few weeks...
... and then, they are gone... until the next spring...

Cambridge: ... magnolias are in bloom...

Cambridge: ... an ancient plant... emerging before bees...

Cambridge: ... their flowers, some say, have evolved to attract beetles...

Cambridge: ... and, I say, humans as well...

Cambridge: ... adorning the streets...

They Are Back

Great Meadows National Wildlife Refuge, Concord, Massachusetts

Still cold and windy on Great Meadows...
... leafless trees bring this wintry feeling... except for the sounds of frogs and sun-bathing turtles...
   ... and in the air,
Tree Swallows in their acrobatic fly-overs...
... this may be their first day here, and their first meal after long trip...
... I can't take my eyes off of them... mesmerized... they are back...

Great Meadows: ... tree swallows have arrived...

Great Meadows: ... in the moments of their fly-overs...

Great Meadows: ... this may be their first day here...

Great Meadows: ... mesmerizing...

Great Meadows: ... they are back...

Together

Sachuest Point National Wildlife Refuge, Rhode Island

I love ducks... I love waves... and Sachuest brings them together...
... crushing ocean and these teeny-tinies... in total control...

Sachuest Point: ... I love ducks... and waves...

Sachuest Point: ... together...

Sachuest Point: ... sliding...

Sachuest Point: ... when such a power rolls in...

Sachuest Point: ... the time to dive...

Sachuest Point: ... through sounds...

Sachuest Point: ... in her eyes...

Sachuest Point: ... hidden from the wind's freeze...

Sachuest Point: ... and with all this cold, looks like summer for them...

Sachuest Point: ... crushing ocean...

Sachuest Point: ... and these teeny-tinies... in total control...
